One day I'll have one of those prettily-coded First Impressions posts to link to this from. One day. But that's not today, so til then I'm actually using the profile space provided by DW.
[OOC]
Backtagging: Absolutely!
Threadhopping: Sure!
"Offensive subjects"/Warn Me Before: I appreciate a heads-up for vividly described gore, but other than that... I can't really think of anything that'd come up in-game anyplace I'd take this poor fool except psychological abuse with the intent of breaking someone. That's a hard no, I'm afraid. (Magic-based mind control is fine - and, well, it's right there in canon, I'm not aiming for hypocrisy.)
I'd also prefer to know beforehand if you're about to have your character explain backstory involving abuse by parents and/or a partner in detail: it isn't a theme I'd prefer never to engage with, but it's something I genuinely need to brace myself for.
Warnings For You: It probably will come up eventually that he's of the "uses holy symbols powered by faith" variety of vampire hunter, so... while I'm very much not, Jonathan is a Christian, and specifically a pre-Vatican-II Catholic. (I can't see the Belmonts and their descendants as Orthodox. The symbols used are all wrong, and Lament of Innocence takes place after the Great Schism; coming from Western Europe as he did, Leon would have been Catholic.)
Trying to construct a Catholicism that'd fit the way the Castlevania games portray Christianity has led to my writing a take on Jonathan whose faith really is a big part of his life. He's vaguely heretical even by his own setting's standards, like any Belmont, but he will react negatively to people disparaging the Church. With that said, he doesn't assume a one-time profession of belief means you can do whatever you want and say you're a good person. (He also believes in purgatory and prays for the souls there, has prayed for years in hopes of meeting and marrying a perfect wife, and pronounces Latin in a fashion that'd make any Roman lose their shit.) So far as he's concerned, a big part of being a Christian is working to make the world better, and keeping it out of the control of literal inhuman monsters is his most pressing concern.
So if you're uncomfortable with that level of religiosity out of character, please tell me, I can and am perfectly willing to write around having him talk about any of the above if it'd otherwise come up.
Other than that... he does have a rather dated understanding of gender and sexuality, but doesn't view love like that of David for his namesake as a mortal sin or view women as in any way less than men. Basically, if you're willing to write an explanation of how things are in ~the future~ or have some initially awkward CR, that's fine, but I'm willing to simply write him doing his best to understand, too.
[IC]
Hugging this character: Absolutely, of course... provided it's not his first introduction to whoever's doing it. Though startled flailing away from someone can be a fun start to CR, can't it?
Kissing this character:[jmorris_2.exe has encountered an error and must restart...] Go ahead, but he's going to freeze like Captain America.
Flirting with this character: Go right ahead. Don't expect him to necessarily pick up on it if it's subtle, and don't necessarily expect him to respond in kind if it isn't... he's a very boyish eighteen and dodges the few attempts made in canonexcepting Astarte, unless you're real quick to dodge. I should also state outright that he's an eighteen-year-old from 1944 Texas and might not take being hit on by a guy as "I'm going to dodge this by making a joke" nonchalantly as he does having a girl try to flirt. No overt or violent homophobia, mind, I'll point at "this world has Actual Dracula as a recurring problem" as evidence that the timeline he's from can bend away from tedious "gritty" "realism"* just fine, but extra fluster and more than a little confusion.
Injuring this character: Sure, just give me a heads-up if you want him hurt badly enough to be out of commission for an extended period of time - we can work it out better if we're actually collaborating, yeah?
Killing this character: Just ask first. (Really, though - would I have thrown him in a murdergame if I weren't okay with that?)
[PORN PREFERENCES]
Default sexuality: Short version: he's straight. Has a bit of a thing for women shorter than him who can still kick his ass. Enjoys T&A, but with a bit of a preference towards the T, if you catch my meaning.
Long version: He would identify himself as straight, but that's somewhat less straightforward than you'd think. "Period-plausible incidental bisexuality" about covers it - he'll fool around with another guy if he's desperately horny or really, really bored, but he really doesn't know how to handle not being the one to initiate things in that kind of situation. He's not going to go into torrents of theatrically tormented tears and angst about having fucked another guy, but he's definitely not going to expect any kind of lasting romantic relationship, and he'll be pretty damn baffled if somebody he turns to in a moment of lust and/or boredom assumes that was what he was looking for.**
Hell Yes: magic used as a sex enhancement/aid/toy, femdom (esp. queening), having his chest played with, the possibility of being caught screwing somewhere he and his partner really shouldn't be doing that (is there a specific single word for this? it's not exhibitionism but the thrill of maybe being caught), sex comedy takes on game mechanics and/or items from his canon
Fuck No: bathroom stuff, brainwashing/mind control, rape, any partner younger than sixteen (also, physical appearance counts, it doesn't matter if they're 800 if they look like a damn kid), incest, bestiality (and yes it still counts if it's a sentient animal), bodily transformation, "lifestyle" BDSM themes
IC Fuck No, OOC FUCK YEAH: forced-fem of the corsets-and-costuming-and-makeup-and-lessons-in-decorum variety, public use, use of restraints (his boots have O-ring anchor points on them, come on), sexy vampire feeding, drunk sex, drugged sex (either "high and horny" or unrealistic-porno-aphrodisiac drugged, not "limp and compliant" drugged)
If you want to play it and don't see it listed, JUST ASK.
*as regards how "realistic" having a young man of that era react with bafflement and not violence to having another man make a pass at him actually is... trust me, actual history will surprise you. I highly recommend John Howard's Men Like That: A Southern Queer History, though it's specific to Missouri and not Texas.
Also Jonathan is himself, he's just not that kind of guy.
**Seriously, see previous footnote.
